Laura APRN, BC-FNP

Hi I’m Laura, a certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Functional Health Practitioner. I have been a FNP for 8 years working with patients in mental health facilities. Prior to that I became a bedside Registered Nurse in 2012 and have worked at two top recognized hospitals throughout Ohio, The Cleveland Clinic and Grant Medical Center, as well working at Ortho One. I have
always leaned on the side of a more holistic approach to life, however my transition into the Functional Medicine world came into full effect after the birth of my 3 rd child.

I had received antibiotics and my gut (and my daughter’s gut) was not happy about it. I started researching more about the damaging effects antibiotics play on the gut microbiome and the issues it was causing me (and my daughter). The more I knew, the more I was fascinated and wanted to continue to learn and expand my knowledge of functional medicine. I love all aspects of taking care of patients, however figuring out the ‘why’ behind their symptoms is my passion.

I believe in making a personal connection with my patients and assisting them through their health journey while working together to achieve the best functioning version of themselves. Every patient is unique, and therefore needs an individualized care plan with a whole-body systems-based approach. When I am not working, I am spending time with my Husband and our 3 young kids (Bennett 5, Maddison 3, McKenna 1).

We are excited to be welcoming another baby come August! My family continues to remain the ‘why’ behind my drive and practicing whole body health.

The more holistic approach to health here at Active Edge is what brought me in and what keeps me around. The Doctors are always keeping an eye out for ways they can help patients. It’s been enjoyable to learn about what the doctors have to offer in terms of treatment and their unique approach here at Active edge. You’ll meet me in the office assisting the docs care for our exceptional patients and partners. When I’m not here, I do school work, spend time with Friends, and enjoy the outdoors. I’m happy to assist others with what they need and help them in living better lives!

Peg

Peg DeLisle, LMT, Auricular Therapy Specialist
Peg has been blessed with healing hands and a heart for her patients. She gets to know each of her patients personally and joins them on their journey to health in whatever capacity they might need at the time.
Peg has been a Licensed Massage Therapist since 2006. She is continually learning and adding new healing tools into her practice. During a session with Peg, you may receive a combination of cupping, deep tissue, trigger point, percussion, hot stones, essential oils, or reflexology to adjunct massage strokes.
Most recently, Peg has added Auricular Therapy, also known as “Ear Seeding.”  The ear has connections to the enitire body with over 200 points mapped out on the ear. This therapy is administered by stimulating specific points on the external ear with acupressure to produce therapeutic affect elsewhere in the body by pressing tiny 2mm actual plant seeds or pellets on the appropriate corresponding point with medical adhesive tape or clear patches to stimulating nerve branches in the ear. A connection is made to the brain and nervous system bringing homeostasis (balance) to that system or body part. It is a non-invasive and drug-free alternative for many different conditions. This service can be done as a separate treatment or applied after discoveries obtained during a massage session.
Prior to becoming a massage therapist, Peg worked as a paramedic, medical assistant and taught CPR and First Aid for many years. She is the proud mother of 3 adult children and enjoys spending time with her seven and counting grandchildren. Her greatest joy is spending time with family and faithfully serving God in the opportunities He provides. She also enjoys camping and her best friend Amara, her Belgian Malinois.

Eryn

I love helping those frustrated by foot and ankle problems revive their active lifestyle through full body restoration rather than costly orthotics, medical procedures, and unnecessary “rest”.

In my years of experience, I have worked with countless clients who’ve undergone life pausing surgeries yet still live in pain. I have heard the same medical advice given to my clients time and time again with poor results…. “never walk barefoot”, “surgery is your only option”, “wear a walking boot for 3 weeks”.

I’ve developed a DIFFERENT approach. I understand that a foot problem is NEVER just a foot problem and strive to find and treat the root cause of foot dysfunction rather than the symptoms.

As an athlete, I was successful in high school and college programs, but always struggled with persistent knee pain. I was told orthotics were the answer, with no prevail. Now as an expert in human movements I understand how to fix pain and dysfunction with the human body rather than external support. It’s my mission to prevent people from living with prolonged pain as I did or from getting life altering procedures.

After graduating from The Ohio State University with my Doctorate in Physical Therapy, I started Sole Physical Therapy to provide one-on-one, individualized care for people of all lifestyles both in person and virtually. I love to work alongside clients to solve the hidden issue behind their injuries, but also enjoy working with health conscious individuals that want to better their physical well-being and be proactive in preventing future problems.

In addition to starting Sole Physical Therapy, I also work for Gait Happens, which is a prominent educational company for foot and ankle dysfunction where I perform virtual consultations for those all over the world. This has also led me to being an instructor for their Functional Gait Assessment Level 1 which is a continuing education course where health care professionals can come together to learn how to assess gait in a comprehensive fashion.

As you can tell, I am passionate about treating foot and ankle dysfunction but also excel at treating multiple issues throughout the body. In my eyes, the body is one cohesive machine where all parts need to be working together optimally for the best results.

At this point, you are feeling better than you ever thought you could as you are feeling energized and thriving. You have learned a lot about your body, you are moving more efficiently, you understand your body’s cues, and you have a good idea of what to do with these cues. This means you get to try new things, achieve new goals, and conquer new challenges!  As you do, we will be here as your resource, as needed, to help you nourish, boost, and refresh your health.

Stage 2: Activate Healing

Pain is generally the last symptom to show up and the first to go away. This means that by the time you realize there is a problem, there has been a problem for a long time. Especially for chronic or recurring issues, understanding how you got to where you are is so important for getting to where you want to go. In this stage of your journey, you will resolve underlying dysfunction, remove cheats, and retrain habits. As we aid you in activating your body’s natural healing potential, we will help you regain movement, energy, and body function both inside and outside. Throughout this process, you will start to feel greater ease and inspiration as you restore communication and efficiency in your body. Together, we will constantly assess, observe, and reassess your body’s responses to boost your results.

Stage 1: Discover Root Cause

You are your own person, with your own collection of life events which brought you to where you are today. You deserve to be heard, seen, and treated as the individual you are. Your journey begins with your Discovery Evaluation. This first visit includes your exam which works to uncover the root of your issue(s), new patient diagnostics, and, of course, your first treatment. This is how we will help you begin connecting the dots and feeling better. After your first treatment, we will ask you to observe your body’s responses– good, bad, or indifferent. There is no wrong answer as this is just starting point information and direction for moving forward. In your second visit, we will review this feedback and your diagnostics to further identify potential underlying causes and compensations. We will combine everything we have learned about you, consider your goals, and together create a plan to resolve your concerns from the roots up
